Clayfest Job Description
Poster/Graphics Chair
The Poster/Graphics person designs and creates camera-ready art
including but not limited to poster, postcards, flyers and print
advertisements.
- Works with the Publicity chair to create a timeline for
publishing/distributing work. Creates a production timeline. Meets
deadlines.
- Solicits publicity photographs from participating artists. Scans
photographs into electronic form or copies images from disks (or has
scans done for high-resolution poster images.) Converts jpeg images
into useable formats.
- Consults with Publicity chair about poster and other design
projects, scanning and sharing of images, and other visual publicity
- Writes specifications and solicits bids for postcard and poster
printing (pricing print advertising is the responsibility of
Publicity chair).
- Creates and follows a budget, and keeps an accurate record of
expenses.
- Designs and produces camera-ready art, on disk, for the
postcard(s), poster, advertisements, site map and map hand-outs.
- Arranges printing orders with printer. Delivers art on disk in
timely fashion.
- Reviews printers' proofs and makes corrections if necessary;
arranges for printing.
- Delivers finished postcards and posters to Postcard chair for
mailing or distribution.
- Presents print ads on disk to Publicity chair for delivery to
newspapers.
- Maintains an archive of laminated posters for gallery display.
The chair needs access to computer equipment including scanner, zip
drive or CD-R and reasonably current desktop publishing software
capable of generating PDF files. Access to and familiarity with
PhotoShop or similar software is highly recommended. Any previous
experience in graphic design or publicity is also helpful.
